When visiting Quito you should be aware of a few safety issues. Try to stay away from dark alleys and keep your valuables in the hotel room. The Quito weather can be quite cold. Temperatures are spring like and they tend to stay that way throughout the year. Make sure to pack some warm clothing. There are only two seasons here, the dry season and the wet season. During the latter, the city can be struck quite hard by El Nino so pack an umbrella and lots of water resistant clothing if you travel to Quito during that time.
